Botany for Beginners
Event description
Prepare to explore our incredible local biosphere! In celebration of National Science Week 2024 and in partnership with the Ravensthorpe Wildflower Show, we’re hosting a FREE day of botanical excitement.
Meet at the Ravensthorpe CRC and get ready to embark on an exciting adventure.
Join artist and botanist Katie White of Caladenia Co. for a captivating field walk to discover our unique local flora and enjoy morning tea out in nature.
Afterwards, enjoy a light lunch followed by an up-close view of these amazing plants using microscopes (supplied by the Ravensthorpe Herbarium) and learn about drawing and identifying individual flowers and specimens back at the Ravy CRC.
Everyone 9+ welcome! Perfect for parent/child combos or anyone of any age interested to learn more about botany and botanical drawing. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
10am-12pm - Facilitated field walk with professional botanist and volunteers
12pm–1pm - Lunch break (light lunch provided)
1pm–3pm - Plant identification and microscope session
