Bright Beginnings: Planning a happy and inclusive start to school - Online workshop

Starting school is an exciting and busy time for all families. For parents who have a child with disability it is also often a time when they have many questions (and a little apprehension!).

In this online workshop, we will address many of the common questions and concerns of parents of children with disability about to start school. You will be more clear on what inclusive education is and why it’s important for your child, and more confident in having enrolment interviews and ongoing conversations with your local schools. You will also get a chance to connect online with other parents just starting out on the school journey alongside their children with disability.

This session will cover:

  • Why planning for your child’s inclusive education is important

  • Information on school policies and the supports available

  • How our first conversations with school can go a long way in building a productive home-school partnership

  • What parents can do to help foster happy and inclusive school days

  • Common issues and how to work through them

This free online workshop will be delivered by CRU facilitators passionate about inclusive education and experienced in advocating for inclusion in the early years, secondary school and beyond.

Who should attend:
Parents of children with disability who will be starting school in 2026 or 2027. Parents whose children have started school in 2025 are also welcome to attend to learn, build their confidence, and meet other parents of young children.
