Steering Your Journey - Brisbane Oct 2025
Event description
Steering Your Journey: Directing paid support to get the life you want
Does having paid support really make your life better? Are there things that you would like to change?
Paid support has an important role in the lives of people with disability. However, if this paid or 'formal' support is not used well, it can get in the way of friendships, relationships and ordinary life.
Steering the Journey is a workshop that can help you navigate life with funded supports and maximise its benefits.
This workshop shares ideas and approaches to give you the skills and confidence to make the most of the supports you have now and in the future.
The workshop explores:
What does good paid or 'formal' support look like?
Understanding your role and responsibilities in achieving good quality support.
Taking the lead, so paid support is actively working with you to achieve the life you want.
Problem solving and managing conflict in respectful and productive ways.
Reviewing your formal supports and checking for resilience.
This workshop covers similar material to CRU's 'Holding the Compass' workshop and webinars.
