• What is Buddy's Comedy?

  Buddy's Comedy is a premium live stand-up comedy night in Newtown, produced by Kookaburra’s Comedy. Each show features professional headline acts and some of Sydney’s top comedians for a night of world-class laughs and good vibes.

• Who runs the show?

  The event is run by Kookaburra’s Comedy, the same team behind shows at We Three in Marrickville, The Royal Hotel Darlington the Nelson Hotel in Bondi Junction and Drummer in Glebe. All of the shows are part of a mission to grow Sydney’s comedy scene by supporting local talent.

• Where is the show held?

  The show takes place at Buddy's Bar, 391 King St, Newtown NSW 2042 - just a few minutes’ walk from bus stops and train station.

• When is the next show?

  Buddy's Comedy runs on the final Thursday each month. Check sydneycomedy.com.au or our social pages @kookaburrascomedy for the next date and lineup announcements.

• How much are tickets?

  Early bird tickets are $15 and this offer ends 7 days before each event. Tickets are usually $20 online or $25 on the door, depending on availability. Group options available. We recommend booking online to secure your spot and save money.

• Who performs at Comedy at Buddy's?

  Each lineup features a rotating cast of headline comedians from around Australia - often seen on TV, festivals, and major clubs - plus some of Sydney’s finest support acts. We have previously booked Daniel Muggleton, Luke Heggie, Bron Lewis, Al Del Bene, Andrew Barnett and Anisa Nandaula and more.

• Is it suitable for groups or date nights?

  Absolutely! It’s one of the best date night ideas in Newtown, and perfect for a fun night out with mates. The cozy self-serve bar setting, quality acts, and relaxed atmosphere make it ideal for couples or groups.

• Is food and drink available at the show?

  Yes - There's a full menu and great drink options. Many guests enjoy dinner before, or grab a drink from the self-serve bar to enjoy during the show.

• What’s the difference between Kookies Comedy and Buddy's Comedy?

  Kookies Comedy at The Royal Hotel Darlington showcases Sydney’s rising comics, whilst Buddy's Comedy in Newtown is a professional stand-up night featuring established comedians. Both are produced by Kookaburra’s Comedy.

• Do you run other comedy shows around Sydney?

  Yes - Kookaburra’s Comedy runs multiple live shows across Sydney, including Kookies Comedy (Darlington and Marrickville), Level One Comedy at the Nelson Hotel (Bondi Junction), Drummer Comedy (Glebe), plus other festival shows and events around the city.

• Is this event wheelchair accessible?

  Unfortunately, this event is upstairs and is not wheelchair accessible.
