Bugas by Buddy
Event description
BUGAS by Buddy
You are invited to enjoy this ‘3 course’ exhibition of visual art, fashion design and movement at the forefront.
Bugas - translating to “milled rice” in the artist’s mother tongue, Bisaya - is a live interdisciplinary exploration, navigating a cultural reconnection, an understanding of self and an interrogation on hierarchy. Relearning and reconnecting, the work stems from the artist’s recent trip to his homeland, Philippines, noting key reflections and memories distant, yet emerging. In its literal form, Bugas explores the significance of rice through a first generation Asian-Australian lens - a small grain withholding a nostalgic past. Metaphorically, the work activates viewers to encourage a better understanding of our own perspectives, influences and position in the world. Bugas is a non-funded research project with intentions for further development.
Immerse yourself in this 2 night contemporary experience and question how will you digest Bugas?
