A rainforest in fragments, a changing climate and a future that depends on resilience.

How do we ensure restoration efforts of the Big Scrub build the genetic diversity and ecological resilience needed to thrive for generations to come?

Join us for an evening exploring how the latest science is helping shape the future of the Big Scrub rainforest.

Hear from leading researchers and local conservation practitioners working across evolutionary ecology, genetic diversity and rainforest restoration, such as the Head of Research Centre for Ecosystem Resilience at the Botanic Gardens of Sydney, Professor Maurizio Rossetto, and biologist and evolutionary ecologist, Dr. Rob Kooyman.

Together, our speakers will explore the Big Scrub’s remarkable evolutionary history, why genetic diversity is critical to the resilience of rainforest ecosystems, and how this science is being translated into action through the Science Saving Rainforests program and Big Scrub Buffers Project.

From 5:30pm, arrive early to grab a drink from the Cape Byron Distillery bar, order food from the on-site food truck and mingle with fellow rainforest enthusiasts while taking in the sunset over Brookfarm’s regenerated rainforest.

Then settle in for an evening of fascinating talks from 7:00pm followed by a Q&A.

Come along to discover what we’re learning about the Big Scrub and how science is helping guide its restoration and recovery.
