A Future Made in the Hunter | Business Hunter Summit 2024

The government's Future Made in Australia Fund was the centrepiece of the latest Federal Budget, with $22.7 billion committed to help cement our place as an indispensable part of the global economy.

As Prime Minister Albanese has repeatedly outlined, the Hunter will play a huge role in achieving this ambition. Ahead of us lie big nation-building and region-building endeavours that can propel us forward.

Our ability to grasp these opportunities will rely on many intersecting and contributing economic and social factors. Our region will strive toward innovation, maintain and grow existing capabilities, and navigate significant change, all while contending with workforce and housing shortages.

Our identity as ‘makers’ of physical and non-physical products will continue to define us, provided we have the means to do so.

Do we have the means? What are the challenges and constraints? How do we 'follow the funds' to leverage emerging opportunities? Who's doing what?

An exciting lineup of national and regional experts and thought leaders will help us unpack these questions and more. Full lineup to be announced shortly. Confirmed speakers include:

- Craig Ruecassel (The Chasers, War on Waste, ABC Radio Sydney) as MC
- Business Council of Australia CEO, Bran Black
- Net Zero Economy Agency First Assistant Secretary, Emily Martin
- Business NSW CEO, Dan Hunter
- Engineers Australia Group Executive Policy and Public Affairs, Damian Ogden
- 24 Hour Economy Commissioner, Michael Rodrigues

As well as regional thought leaders and experts across housing, manufacturing, post-mining land re-use, visitor economy and hospitality, innovation and diversification. Full speaker lineup to be announced in early June.
