Caring for your forest: Sharpening Secateurs Workshop
Description
Is your garden overgrown? Have you been buying plants at the Barung nursery, again and again, and now the shrubbery is "wild" to say the least? It is time to do some pruning! You pull out your secateurs, and to your dismay they are blunt, rusty, and twigs get caught between the blades. Do you go and buy a cheap new pair? No! You bring your blunt and rusty secateurs to the "Sharpening Secateurs Workshop"!
This is a workshop Allan Ward and Hilary Pearl have put together and it is brilliant. Participants bring 1-2 pairs of secateurs, and are taken through the procedure to sharpen blades. We then pull the secateurs apart, polish and flatten the anvil and reassemble them.
We will run through daily/weekly maintenance, and the tools you need to maintain your secateurs. Sharpening tools, stones, oils, and spanners will be available at the workshop. Participants will need to bring one or two pairs of old secateurs, and an apron/old shirt. Get your secateurs sharp and shiny, ready for spring!
Participation is limited to 15 places so please book in to attend!
