Event description

As roadworks and other building projects slowly encroach upon us all, the Hunter Region Botanic Gardens is becoming an ever-more vital sanctuary and oasis for our wildlife and for people, too. Please join us on Sunday 15th September for an inspiring fund-raising event for the Gardens as we CELEBRATE BIRDS!

Program (this program is subject to change)

8.00am breakfast with the birds - walk with Hunter Bird Observers Club followed by BBQ breakfast - very limited places for this walk. Bookings essential. Bookings close 13th Sept. Price of $20 includes entry and breakfast BBQ.

9.30  Bird photography walk with Hunter Bird Observers. Limited places. Bookings essential. Walk is $5.

10.30  Presentation - Helen Howard from Hunter region Botanic Gardens - 'growing plants to attract birds to your garden'

10.50 Presentation - Mark Clifton from Birdlife Australia 

11.10 break

11.30 auction of bird collectors plates, etched glassware, and other bird items - auctioneer is Tracy Jonovski from Osborne George Real Estate. See our Facebook page for auction items.

2.05  Eco-Network Port Stephens AGM - guest speaker Francesca Beddie, editor of Australian Garden History 'historical gardens and climate change'

There will be displays and activities from NPWS, Eco-Network, Mambo Wetlands and Hunter Bird Observers Club.

The Hunter Region Botanic Gardens receives no on-going government funding. The Gardens are maintained entirely by volunteers. All donations are gratefully received and fund-raising events such as this are vital to keep our Gardens going and growing. Thank you for your support.
