Event description

As the sun begins its slow descent and the earth leans into balance, we gather on sacred land to honor the season of Mabon — the autumn equinox — and the quiet power of Cerridwen, keeper of the cauldron.

This is a retreat for slowing down, listening deeply, and remembering the sacred rhythm of release. Together, we will walk gently through forest and field, gathering what nature offers to build our own earth cauldrons — vessels of transformation, dissolution, and renewal.

Your Invitation

At the threshold of balance — where light and dark meet — we enter into the myth and mystery of Cerridwen, who teaches us that nothing is wasted. The leaves that fall become soil. The grief we carry becomes wisdom. The silence we keep becomes song.

This retreat invites you to:

  • Participate in a guided forest bathing walk, moving slowly through the land with presence and intention

  • Create your own nature cauldron, using forest-gathered elements as a container for release and transformation

  • Engage in gentle ritual, journaling, and seasonal reflection

  • Work with the plant allies of the equinox (apple, mugwort, rosemary, elder) to support inner balance and protection

  • Share tea, gratitude, and silence in circle, honoring both what is falling away and what is quietly beginning

Why Cerridwen, Why Mabon, Why Now

This is the season of compost, of letting go, of trusting that the unseen work is still sacred. Cerridwen’s myth reminds us that the cauldron — literal or symbolic — is a place where change brews slowly, in the dark. She is not here to rush us, but to hold space for our transformation.

In a world that urges constant doing, this is an invitation to just be — to let the land teach you, to walk with reverence, and to release gently what is no longer yours to carry.

What this Retreat Includes

Opening Circle: Honoring the Cauldron Within

We begin in quiet circle beneath the shifting light of early fall. Together, we’ll ground, breathe, and reflect on the sacred pause of the equinox — that brief moment when light and dark meet in balance.

Each participant will receive a hand-crafted seasonal reflection card and a small bundle of plant allies (apple, rosemary, mugwort, and elder) to carry with you as symbols of protection, balance, and transformation.

You’ll be invited to gently name what is composting in your life — what is softening, dissolving, or ready to return to the soil.

Guided Forest Bathing Walk

Our walk through the woods will be slow and intentional, attuned to the rhythm of the land. With gentle invitations, you’ll be guided to observe the quiet signs of seasonal change — the goldening leaves, the soft decay, the seeds nestled in fallen branches.

You’ll receive simple prompts to explore:

  • What is "in the cauldron" of your life — what’s being stirred, dissolved, or transformed

  • What you are releasing at this turning point

  • What new vision or seed may be beginning to take form

There will be pauses for journaling, silence, or simply resting into the presence of the forest.

Earth Cauldron Ritual: Compost & Creation

As we arrive at a quiet, sheltered spot, you’ll be invited to create your own nature cauldron — a small, sacred circle made from gathered materials: leaves, bark, stones, or moss.

Into this cauldron, you may place a written release, a prayer, a breath — something no longer needed. This ritual honors Cerridwen’s sacred vessel: the place where old stories are broken down and new wisdom begins to stir.

This is a quiet, personal ritual — witnessed only by the land and the stillness of the season.

Closing Circle: Harvest & Integration

We’ll end our journey in soft circle, sipping herbal tea and a seasonal snack, and reflecting on what the walk revealed. You may choose to share an insight, a word, or simply listen.

You’ll leave with your seasonal bundle, your reflections, and the felt sense of being part of something ancient — a rhythm of release and rebirth held by earth, myth, and season.
