A light heart, a deep soul and a big sound.  Champagne Jacket is the moniker of UK born singer/songwriter and composer Jack Lewis.  Gigging as a 5 piece, the songs range from delicate acoustic whispers to powerful crescendos thick with heavy guitar and three part harmony, interspersed by Jack’s frankly unpredictable stage banter. 

This show at Open Studio marks the release of “Sarah”, recorded with Gormie (Angie McMahon), an indie disco love song that repaints serotonin as “the one that got away”. Bowie meets Bruno Mars in sultry, speedy vocals on a head nodding bed of Nile Rodgers & Jamiroquai style grooves.  The set will be rounded off with originals from the upcoming self titled EP (due early 2024), ranging from psychedelic blues bangers to piano ballad sangers, with a comedic singalong about Jack’s love of potatoes on the side.

On his motivation, Jack says: “I write songs from a wandering life, as a diving instructor, city slicker, volunteer police officer, ocean sailor, pseudo-foreigner, and estranged friend, son and brother.  I’m fascinated at how the truth changes when you change your perspective and songwriting turns out to be the perfect playground for this”.
