Event description

Is stormwater the villain it has been made out to be? Is it out of mind because out of sight? In the context of a changing climate, this is an interactive conversation surfacing the role that stormwater infrastructure could play in the health of the Birrarung (Yarra) River and exploring how we could revalue stormwater as a key resource to the water resilience of our city.  What would it take for the river to be healthy, climate-resilient and swimmable?

This conversation will bring together various actors and decision makers in the river catchment around the City of Melbourne’s 3D model. Through an immersive experience, attendees will go on a journey of the unseen waterways in a section of the city and opportunities ahead.

This event is being presented by Regen Melbourne.

Accessibility: This event is wheelchair friendly. Riverfest welcomes everyone—we’re committed to making our events accessible and inclusive for people of all abilities. If you have accessibility needs and require support to attend, please email carolyn.tate@yarrariver.org.au

Acknowledgement of Country

The Yarra Riverkeeper Association acknowledges that the lands and waterways of the Yarra, Birrarung catchment, are the unceded territories of the Wurundjeri Woi-Wurrung and Bunurong peoples. We pay respect to Traditional Owners, who have, and continue, to care for Country. We acknowledge that the river now called Yarra has always been known as the Birrarung by its custodians.
