Description

Rain or shine — we'll only cancel for severe weather, and you'll get at least 8 hours' notice by email if that happens.

The Charles River is a beautiful place to watch the sunset on a late summer evening. Join us for a night of community, connection, and togetherness as we admire and appreciate Boston's urban nature. Walkers will have the opportunity to learn about The Resilient Activist, including how to get involved and stay connected.

The evening will include a mix of nature-based activities and time to walk, talk, and celebrate the sunset!

Activities to Try Along the Way (optional!)

• Nature Sit Spot — Pause your walk and find a stationary spot to sit for 5–10 minutes. Focus your attention on a single natural element, like a swaying leaf or a moving bug, to help anchor your mind.

• The Color Walk — Challenge yourself to spot an object for every color of the rainbow (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple) as you move along the trail. Printable worksheet: https://www.mindfulteachers.org/blog/rainbow-walk

Printed copies of the worksheet and pens will be available courtesy of the event host.

Good to Know Before You Come

• Bring a water bottle

• This is an outdoor event, so bring sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen)

• Wear comfortable clothing and shoes for walking — most of the route is wheelchair accessible with paved sidewalks, though some areas involve mowed grass or rocky trails

• Children are welcome with an accompanying adult

• An on-site porta-potty will be available

Getting Here

• By bike or on foot: along the Charles River path

• By bus: Take the 70 or 86 to Western Ave & Everett St, then walk about 5 minutes over the pedestrian bridge to the Artesani Playground Wading Pool & Spray Deck

• By car: parking is available nearby — see the map link in the event location details

About The Resilient Activist

The Resilient Activist is a nonprofit resource dedicated to building resilience, optimism, and hope in response to the impacts of the climate crisis through community building, deep nature-connection, education, and sustainable engagement. Your attendance helps bring The Resilient Activist community together — this evening is a chance to connect with others who care about resilience and the natural world, and to experience a beautiful piece of urban nature.

Our Event Leader: Gina Bates

Gina Bates is a Boston resident and Board Member of The Resilient Activist. Gina is eager to find opportunities to explore urban nature with her community. She is excited to share her beloved sunset walking route with neighbors and friends. Gina often approaches nature walks with attentiveness, thoughtfulness, and mindfulness, and she recognizes that noticing nature positively impacts mental health and well-being.
