Event description

Eat the Sun: A Radiant Summer Experience in Natural Dye & Farm-to-Table Dining

Natural Dye Workshop: July 20, 2025
Farm-to-Table Dinner: August 3, 2025
Hosted at Crown Hill Farm, Eden, NY

Join us for Eat the Sun — a vibrant, sensory celebration of summer in two unforgettable parts: a hands-on natural dye workshop and a golden-hued farm-to-table dinner. This is more than a meal. It's an invitation to connect with the land, your creativity, and the height of the growing season.

The Full Experience:

Start your journey on July 20th with fiber artist Tami Fuller of BluBird Studio, where you’ll hand-dye your own linen placemat and napkin using turmeric, onion skins, marigolds, and other sunshine-colored plants. You’ll create a handcrafted placemat and napkin using natural plant dyes — a personal work of art that will be waiting for you at the dinner two weeks later, ready to use and take home after the meal.

Then on August 3rd, return to Crown Hill Farm for a midsummer meal designed by Chef Jessica Arends of Cornelia at AKG. Known for her playful and deeply seasonal approach, Jessica will craft a stunning menu that features the same plants you used in the dye workshop — this time, on your plate. Turmeric, onions, marigolds, and edible flowers come together in an artful expression of flavor, color, and sunshine.

Dine in the open air with the very linens you dyed, surrounded by fields and flowers in full bloom. It’s a meal to remember — rooted in creativity, community, and the light of summer.

Can’t make the workshop?

We’ve reserved a limited number of Dinner-Only tickets for those who want to join us just for the August 3rd meal. You'll still get to enjoy the magic of this midsummer feast (with beautiful farm linens provided), even if you skip the dyeing portion.

Why Join Us:

  • Experience a full-circle connection between food, land, and fiber
  • Hand-dye your own linens and dine with them weeks later
  • Savor a golden, seasonal menu created by one of Buffalo’s most talented chefs
  • Enjoy the beauty and abundance of Crown Hill Farm in peak summer
