Children’s Studio Art Class Series

This weekly series is designed so children can sign up for the classes that interest them.  Each of these classes is a deeper dive into the creative process in our studio.  Children attend these classes without caregivers, learn new skills, make new friends with similar creative interests, and leave with wonderful finished projects.  ***Pre-registration required for these classes, minimum of 4 students per class, maximum of 12.

Wednesdays, 9:30-11:30
Tuition:  $10 for each class, includes all materials
Suggested age range for participants:  7-12

*Registration is by the week, so sign up for the sessions that interest you!  $10 per participant, per class.


July 13th
Tie Dye sneakers
with instructor Patti Warren

Using permanent marker and Isopropyl alcohol to customize pair of white or light canvas shoes. You can also design an apron, visor or any canvas item!  All art materials provided...just bring your canvas sneakers, or other canvas surface and colorful energy!

July 20
Nature Infused Paper Making
with instructor Kris Cairelli

Create your own handmade papers using recycled materials, items from nature, and more! We will explore the papermaking process- involving blenders, colorful paper pulp, sponges, screens, and fresh air. All participants will leave with their own handmade papers, along with techniques for using handmade papers to make art.

Kris Cairelli is an artist, art teacher, and mom of three boys in Croydon, New Hampshire. She enjoys making art with many mediums and loves to incorporate nature and sustainability themes. Travel Wee
with instructor Pam LaFountain

Whether you travel across the world, the country or to your backyard, it’s fun to have a travel side-kick. Take your Travel Wee and be sure to take pictures with him/her to document your adventures. These furry adorable creatures can be individualized to fit your style. Designing a leaf for food, a camera, a decorated container, and a label for your Wee “home” are also part of the class.

August 3
Landscape Painting on Canvas
with instructor Caitlin Mauser Rowe

Learn about several key landscape painters through art history with a variety of styles, get inspired and create your own landscape painting. Students will use perspective and the elements of space and color to create their own acrylic landscape paintings on canvas.

Bio: Caitlin has been teaching art to elementary age students for over a decade within our surrounding communities. Her true love is painting, but she also enjoys creating with clay, fabric and other craft materials with both her students at school and two daughters at home.

August 10
Folding a Good Time with Origami
with instructor Pam LaFountain

Fold by fold, bring simple sheets of paper to life as you transform them into characters in this Japanese art form!  Learn how to make Japanese paper dolls.  You choose the color patterns, hairstyles and facial expressions. If time permits we will make other folded origami, like the famous “Japanese paper crane” popularized in the book, “Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes.”

August 17
Pinwheels for Peace
with instructor Kris Cairelli

Learn to create art-filled pinwheels from various materials, including outdoor-grade supplies, to celebrate and promote “whirled” peace! Pinwheel displays have become a symbol of peace culminating every year on September 21st- International Day of Peace. We will incorporate drawing, painting, collage skills and more into our pinwheels, and will explore additional art-making ideas that represent peace as well.
