Please note that this is a long-term campaign. If registering, please plan to attend every other week on Thursday nights, for minimum 8 sessions (16 weeks.) If you are not able to commit to this time slot consistently, please allow someone who can commit to the slot to take this seat instead. ChiRPG hosts plenty of one-shots and campaigns; there is likely an alternate event that will suit your schedule! THE Esmereldas and every other district of New Angeles mourns today, following the sudden death of Edward Aguilar in his home in the Jemisin Tower arcology. NAPD has not released information about his cause of death, but have indicated that they do not suspect foul play at this time.

Aguilar was most known in recent days as the owner and manager of the Sapphire Community Theater, where he also often performed over the course of his life. A longtime patron of the arts, Aguilar referred to the theater's productions as "stories for yesterday, today, and a better tomorrow," and the theater itself showcased professional and amateur productions of everything from Shakespeare plays to modern dramas penned by New Angelinos for the Sapphire.

Aguilar's life, however, touched far more than theater. While he was an impactful presence in his local community in his later years, he made his fortune in biotechnology as a cofounder of the startup Eagle Biogenetics. While the small company's success (and subsequent controversy) made him wealthy, he left the industry after Jinteki Biotech purchased Eagle, and asserts that he has had no involvement in the company or its new owners since. Cutting-edge technology has shaped the city of New Angeles, the biggest city on Earth. It was built around the Beanstalk, the world's first and only space elevator. Clones and androids have begun to supplant human labor, leading to unrest among an increasingly desperate working class. Cybernetic and genetic modification push humanity to its limits, while the ubiquitous Net links all people together, for better or worse. Massive corporations, organized crime and street gangs, and the city's tumultuous government play for power across the Net and the physical city. Through it all, from the risties living in massive luxury arcologies to the disenfrancistos surviving on the undercity's scraps, half a billion people go about their lives.

Genesys is an RPG system driven by the unique Narrative Dice, which can add new opportunities and complications to the story with every roll. Face danger, drama, and adventure with your character's skills, and shape the story with your own creative flair.

The Price of a Body is a campaign using the Genesys system and the Android setting. It falls upon the player characters to investigate the mysterious death of local hero Edward Aguilar, and deal with the power vacuum his death created. Track down clues, trade favors, and trade wits or blows with criminals, mercenaries, and megacorps across New Angeles. In the end, maybe you'll bring a little much-needed justice to the greatest and worst city of the future.

Players of all experience levels are welcome, and no prior knowledge nor purchase of game books are necessary. It will be beginner friendly, including character creation and discussion of the game and story during Session 0 on July 16, and teaching the game as we begin. This campaign will be planned and run without use of generative AI technologies of any kind.

CONTENT NOTES

The setting of New Angeles includes subjects that may be unpleasant for some players. This campaign may touch on androids and human clones being effectively enslaved, unrestrained capitalism and dehumanization, and urban crime and violence, among other subjects. More details and specific boundaries players have will be discussed during Session 0. Player characters will be expected to be more or less on the side of justice.
