Christmas Wreaths with Blak Botanics
Event description
Celebrate the season and the spirit of Country by crafting your own native floral
wreath. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn how to build a natural base using
foraged and sustainable materials, then weave in native blooms and botanicals to
create a one-of-a-kind piece. Guided by Blak Botanics, this is a slow, mindful
making experience - where each stem tells a story and each wreath becomes a
reflection of place, memory, and creativity. All materials provided. No experience
needed - just bring your curiosity and love for native flora.
Blak Botanics is the creative practice of Nadine McDonald-Dowd, a proud Yuwi
woman, artist, and creative. Rooted in Country and culture, Blak Botanics explores
the living relationship between Indigenous identity and native flora through sculptural
forms, workshops, and installations. Nadine’s work is a tactile conversation with
land—honouring ancestral knowledge, seasonal rhythms, and the quiet power of
plants. Based on Kabi Kabi Country, Blak Botanics invites you to gather, create, and
connect with the natural world, engaging through storytelling, and sovereignty
through botanical art.
A complimentary drink on arrival plus grazing board will be provided. More drinks are available for purchase on the night.
