This activity is part of the City Nature Challenge which runs from 25-28 April 2025 and observations will be part of the Greater Sydney City Nature Challenge project.
Thousands of people across the world will be using their mobile phones to record observations of nature over a few days. Cities around the world compete and collaborate to find species, make observations, and connect people with nature in urban areas.
The City Nature Challenge started in 2016 as a friendly contest between San Francisco and Los Angeles. Since then, it has grown into an international event, with over 700+ cities participating in 2025.
