CIVIC: Workshops & Open Cypher

Shifting Centre presents CIVIC: Workshops & Open Community Cypher.

Bringing you knowledgable Street-Dance facilitators that will provide high quality and valuable insight into Krump, Waacking, Choreography & the Cypher. A safe and fun space for dancers and non-dancers to delve into the rich craft of Street-Dance (and its sub-genres).

TUESDAY 4th NOVEMBER:

Savvy.B (Krump Foundations) @ 6:00PM - 7:30PM

"Mani Tuaga aka Savvy.B | Mr. Powerpuff | Savage Street Beast | Twin $A’B is a movement artist who specialises in the street style of Krump. With over 9 years of experience across Oceania, he bases his successes on staying true to his style, movement and authentic self. Savvy.B remains future focused on longevity so he can serve the dance community by sharing knowledge handed down from some of the greatest Krumpers known both nationally and abroad."

Open Jamz (Choreography) @ 7:30PM - 9:00PM

“Openjamz is a collective born from friendship, held together by movement, and opened wide for anyone who wants to step inside.

It is a home more than a studio — a place where we teach each other, learn from each other, and let the music guide us.

Here, classes are not just lessons, they are exchanges. Jams are not just sessions, they are conversations”

Tēnā tātou e te whānau. I have had the privilege to dance for over 15 years starting in the choreography scene with my first crew Hopskotch and in the NZ battle scene. Dance became more than just a skill set or a way to perform - it became a gateway to community, to service, to traveling to countries I never thought I'd see, a way to connect and a way to express. I am honoured to impart my experiences in my journey with yours. Mauri ora.”

OPEN COMMUNITY CYPHER (Facilitated by Shifting Centre) @ 7:30PM - 9:30PM

The Cypher is a practice of discovery and navigation. It is held with love and care, and is built for dancers to freely decipher their emotions, dreams, discoveries and more. A safe space for dancers, artists and humans looking for a space to connect. Open for all and FREE of charge.

LOCATION: Tapere Nui, Te Auaha (65 Dixon Street, Te Aro, Wellington).

PRICE: $15 per workshop or $35 for all three / Cypher is FREE of charge (only registrations needed).
