Event description

Climate Café Facilitator Training is for anyone who wishes to facilitate Climate Cafés in their communities. The only pre-requisite for this training, is to have previously attended at least 3 Climate Cafés.

This training will include the following:
  • The framework and psycho-social principles of Climate Cafés

  • A short experiential Climate Café

  • A discussion on what emotions can emerge in a Climate Café and the facilitator’s role

  • Suggestions on how to set up and promote a Climate Café

This training considers the Australian context of the climate and ecological crises and the ongoing facilitator supervision required.

Pre-requisites:

To attend this training session, you must have participated in at least 3 Climate Cafés beforehand. (They don't have to be PSC-run Cafés). You will be asked to provide some details about those Cafés on booking, for verification. Those questions will be checked before the zoom link is sent, closer to the event date.

Standard registration: $190.00 (+ GST & Humanitix booking fee)

PSC members: 20% discount on our fee, by entering your member discount code at the checkout (link accessible to logged-in members only)

After completion of this training, participants are eligible to join Climate Café Facilitator InterVision. Climate Café Facilitator InterVision is our program of ongoing peer-support sessions for Climate Café Facilitators and runs monthly, from February to November. 


Facilitators:


Christie Wilson, MA

Christie is a clinical and “climate psychotherapist” who supports climate leaders at the front line of the climate and ecological crises. She writes, facilitates and coordinates Climate-Aware Professional Development Programs for Psychology for a Safe Climate and supports mental health practitioners on their climate journey and bringing climate psychology into practice.


Dr Beth Hill

Beth has a PhD in Anthropology researching the cultural and psychological dimensions of climate change, in particular how communities come to terms with what climate change means in their daily lives.  Beth trained with Joanna Macy in the Work that Reconnects. She facilitates workshops drawing on this approach, as well deep ecology, mindfulness and creative processes involving art and writing.
