Thu, 1 Oct, 12:30pm - 4:30pm AWST

Description

Our climate in Western Australia is changing, and a climate ready business is better equipped to manage, adapt and recover from these impacts. Being prepared is simply good business sense and can help your business thrive, not just in times of crisis but for the longer term.

The Climate Ready workshop is designed to assist you to:

  • Understand how climate is changing in your area;

  • Think through the risks to your business;

  • Identify adaptations that suit your needs and capabilities; and

  • Develop an action plan to help your business be more resilient to climate changes.

All workshop participants will develop a climate adaptation action plan for use in their business and will be eligible to apply for funding to support adaptation strategies through a grant program, which will be launched in 2026.

Benefits for your business

So why do you need your business to be Climate Ready? Scientists predict Western Australia's climate will continue to change over the coming decades; last year was WA's third warmest year on record. Changing climate conditions can impact your business in many ways, including:

  • damage from natural disasters can stop you from operating for weeks or months at a time and impact insurance costs;

  • supply chain infrastructure can be damaged impacting your ability to get supplies or increasing the cost of supplies; and

  • employees can be impacted by extreme weather making it unsafe for them to work in certain conditions.

Who it's for

The Climate Ready workshop is suitable for new and existing business owners. It is particularly relevant to businesses operating in the tourism, construction, transport and logistics, retail, manufacturing, agriculture and primary production, health services and real estate industries.
