Clothes Swap
Event description
Register to bring along your good quality clothing and accessories to trade with like-minded fashion enthusiasts. Guilt-free shopping that keeps clothes in the circular economy and out of landfill. A collaboration between Randwick City Council, Clothes Swap & Style founder Nina Gbor (War on Waste ABC) and Plastic Free Coogee.
Each months Swap will now have a focus (please see below) but we still welcome all varieties of clothing and every keen swapper.
2024
September - Mums, bubs and kids
October - Costumes -Â
With potentially over 5 million Aussies celebrating Halloween last year, Halloween spending is expected to reach $490 million which would be a 14% increase from 2022!
A big part of this spending is on the holiday staple of COSTUMES! And with these costumes often designed for single use, much of it ends up in landfill. We want to break this waste cycle with our Costume & Clothes Swap. Bring your Halloween, Book Week and other costumes and swap for some other great ones.
Novemer - Menswear
December - Mega Swap - Bring everything you've got
2025
March - Summer clearance, bring summer clothes
April - Sportswear
May - Larger sizes and baggy style male and female clothing
June - Winter clothes
Are you ready to revamp your wardrobe the eco-friendly way?
Here's how it works:
1. Register to attend here on Humanitix
2. Bring 5 items of good quality pre-loved clothing, shoes, and accessories in good condition.
3. Wait for us to sort the items from all attendees (15 mins or so) and listen to the talk pm Sustainable Fashion
4. Browse to score new-to-you treasures!
5. Enjoy the satisfaction of reducing fashion waste and fostering a sustainable community.
Here are a few just a few guidelines to make the swap even better for everyone:
All items brought to the swap must be clean and in good condition; not worn out or too faded, no pilling, no odorous clothing, stained or damaged. (Good quality also means something you would gift to a friend).
- WHAT TO BRING: pants, skirts, tops, jumpers, coats, jumpsuits, shirts, shoes, bags, shorts, jackets, blazers, scarves, hats, dresses, sunglasses, jewellery. All these items can be retro, vintage, handmade or from quality medium to luxury brands.
- WHAT NOT TO BRING: we will not accept underwear, used pyjamas and overused workout gear.
We look forward to welcoming you to the swap!
Please note that each swap is different, with different clothes from you, the attendees who join us. Due to this please understand that everyone needs to be comfortable for thier items to be found as new treasures by other attendees without the gaurantee of finding the same number of items yourself.
Each month we will have a short talk about sustainable fashion and what is happening in the industry delivered by Nina Gbor from Clothes Swap & Style or Beatriz from Plastic Free Coogee.
Let's make a difference together, one swap at a time! Tag your friends, spread the word, and let's create a greener, more stylish world.
