The loan duration for each resource is for one school term. All resources can be collected from Canberra Museum and Gallery and will fit into the boot of a small hatchback with the back seat folded down, or the boot/back seat of a larger sedan.

Available resources can be selected on the ticket selection page.

EVERY PICTURE TELLS A STORY (OUTREACH PROGRAM - PRE-SCHOOL)
This is the in-class version of our existing EPTAS program.

Looking becomes an exciting adventure when exploring the paintings of Sidney Nolan! Children will engage with selected works from Nolan’s Kelly series and bring them to life through art-based games, singing, storytelling, puppetry and role-play. Children further investigate these ideas during a practical art-making session where they will experiment with a variety of media to create individual artworks.

OLD MACDONALD'S FARM (YEARS P-2)

This specialised early childhood learning program is a gentle introduction to the past. Through storytelling, play and song children learn about activities that happen on a farm. A practical butter-making workshop helps children to understand where butter comes from, allows them to make their own butter and taste the finished product.

This learning program aims to:

  • Introduce the concept of “the past”
  • Expose children to historical concepts and equipment
  • Explore the notion of a farm and the activities that might happen on a farm, such as butter-making.

THE ART BOX (YEARS F-3)

The Art Box is a lower primary visual arts outreach learning resource available for schools in the Canberra region. This resource features paintings in the Nolan Collection and encourages students to make connections between these paintings and works by other artists in the CMAG Collection. Students will engage with works of art through play-based activities and use QR code technology to respond and make. The maximum booking period for each school is one term and the cost is $50 per class. There are two Art Boxes available for schools to borrow:

  •   Animals+Plants
  •   Landscapes+Figures

Professional Learning Workshop: Unpacking The Art Box

The Teacher Professional Learning Workshop Unpacking The Art Box is built into a school booking and is offered at the beginning of each school term. The workshop is only available to teachers from the Canberra region who borrow THE ART BOX. These workshops are designed to empower and support teachers by providing them with methods, techniques, strategies and resources to confidently and creatively implement THE ART BOX outreach learning resource in their own classroom. STOP.MOTION.NOLAN (YEARS 3-6)

Students will use stop motion animation techniques to engage with the paintings and stories in the Nolan Collection. Once the basic skills and techniques of stop motion animation are understood, students can then apply this knowledge to bring any subject area to life.
