FAQs

• Is the event free?

  Yes. Entry is free. We recommend registering through Humanitix so we can manage capacity and the jam lineup.

• Do I need to be a musician to come?

  Not at all. Come for the Coffee Rave, listen to the jam, grab a drink or just hang out.

• Do I need to register to play?

  Yes. Choose “I’m a Musician” when booking and select your instrument. You’ll still need to sign up with the host when you arrive. Yet we will prioritise booking in order.

• Does registering guarantee that I’ll play?

  No. Stage time depends on attendance, instrumentation, rotation and the flow of the session. The host manages the lineup throughout the night. Reserve in advance to ensure being ahead of the list.

• What level do I need to be?

  Different levels are welcome, but you should be comfortable playing with others and know the tune, key, form and tempo before calling it.

• What styles can I play?

  Jazz standards, blues, bebop, swing, modal, Latin jazz, funk, fusion, neo-soul and related styles are welcome.

• I’m a vocalist. What should I bring?

  Know your key. If you’re calling anything outside the common repertoire, please bring a clear chord chart or lead sheet for the band.

• What gear is provided?

  House drum kit, keys, double bass, guitar amp and bass amp are provided. Bring your own instrument where applicable. Please don’t bring your own double bass, mixer or amp unless arranged with us in advance.

• Can I bring a sampler, drum pad or electronic setup?

  Yes, but anything requiring a PA connection must be declared when registering. Please arrive before 5PM for setup. Walk-in PA setups may not be accommodated.

• Can I bring my whole band?

  Yes — apply using “I’m Bringing My Band.” We have 2 Guest Band Showcase slots, each 15 minutes / 2–3 tunes max. Selected bands will be contacted before the event.

• Can my band just turn up and play together during the Open Jam?

  Individual members are welcome to join the rotation, but full-band showcase sets need to be arranged in advance.

• Can I borrow an instrument?

  Possibly, but availability isn’t guaranteed exept for double bass. Please contact us in advance rather than relying on borrowing something on the day.

• Can I just come and watch?

  Absolutely. Choose “I’m Here for Fun” and come whenever you like.

• Can I join both the Coffee Rave and Jazz Jam?

  It’s one continuous event: Coffee Rave 2–5PM / Jazz Jam 5–10PM. One registration is enough.

• UNDER 18s

  Guests under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult (18+) at all times while at the venue.
