Cognitive Screening and trajectories
Event description
Title: Cognitive Screening and trajectories
In this talk, I will discuss research with the Oxford Cognitive screen, including insights on the why, what, when and how of domain-specific cognitive screening in stroke post stroke. Guided by best practice clinical guidelines, I will suggest a potential stepped framework for cognitive screening post stroke evaluating both focal and generalised cognitive changes linked to focal stoke injury against a backdrop of overall brain health, discussing differing cognitive trajectories.
Learning objectives:
After this session participants will:
Contrast domain-specific and domain-general cognitive changes after stroke
Understand how to screen for post stroke cognitive impairments
Understand different post-stroke cognitive trajectories over time: recovery - stability - decline
Presenters:
Professor Nele Demeyere

The lab’s research interests are at the interface of cognitive neuropsychology and clinical practice in stroke. Prof Demeyere started the research group as an Associate Professor in 2016, through a Stroke Association funded lectureship.
