    This in-person 1-day workshop aims to give people working in social support an overview of how to deliver group Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST).

    What is Cognitive Stimulation Therapy?
    CST is an evidence-based therapy for people with mild to moderate dementia.

    CST sessions actively stimulate and engage people with dementia. They provide an optimal learning environment with the social benefits of a group. CST can be delivered by social support group staff.

    This workshop covers

    ✔️ What is Cognitive Stimulation Therapy

    ✔️ Psychosocial approaches for dementia care

    ✔️ CST evidence and guidelines

    ✔️ CST principles & the facilitator’s role

    ✔️ How to deliver CST

    ✔️ Getting started with your own CST group.

    The workshop is interactive. There will be group discussions + role-play. Each participant receives a CST manual for group facilitators at no cost to them.

    Lunch and refreshments included.

    Social Support Group team leaders, co-ordinators and staff from CHSP-funded aged care providers

    Occupational therapist and team leader at Specialist Aged Services, Merri Health.
    Professional Associate, Centre for Ageing Research and Translation, University of Canberra.

    Isobel is an accredited International Cognitive Stimulation Therapy facilitator trainer and Australian CST Working Group member.

    Amy Cussen
    Senior occupational therapist at Specialist Aged Services, Merri Health.

    Amy has extensive expertise in working with people with dementia and clinical education. She holds a Masters in Gerontology. Amy facilitates CST groups and supervises other clinicians in delivering CST. Amy has completed Cognitive Stimulation Therapy facilitator training through University College London.

    Up to 3 people from the same organisation can attend.

    This workshop is for Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) funded aged care service providers only.
