This valentines season, share your love and love of community with us. All love is beautiful - romantic, platonic, & all the colours in between. In a society that centres romantic love, we gather to celebrate love that does not fit into the boxes. Love that takes any shape, any form. Love that changes the shape of ourselves, as the most transformative power we have within. Love that, of course, comes hand-in-hand with loss. These two paradigms push us forward through time, often hardly with a moment to process & breathe. This evening offers us all a moment to take with our own hearts & with one another, to celebrate the beautiful weight of living.

The Oscar-nominated documentary on Andrea Gibson & Megan Falley, two poets facing down a terminal cancer diagnosis, of which Andrea passed away in August 2025. Andrea Gibson held an incredibly important piece of many of our hearts, so we gather together to mourn & celebrate their life and life's work.

Apple TV describes the documentary as 'a poignant and unexpectedly funny love story about poets Andrea Gibson and Megan Falley facing an incurable cancer diagnosis with joy, wit and an unshakable partnership. Through laughter and unwavering love, they transform pain into purpose, and mortality into a moving celebration of resilience.'

Screening will take place in the Basement of echo&bounce

6pm Arrival - come along early to get comfortable, snag a delicious bowl of Ramen from the venue & some popcorn from our lovely hosts

6:30 Event Opening - a warm welcome from hosts Amber & Nikita
6:45 Watch Party starts - yes, we will have tissues on hand.

7:30 Intermission - you can arrange to have a warm meal from the kitchen ready at the break, avail yourself to refreshments at the bar, or we invite you to engage in writing prompts & colouring in available around the room

8:00 Watch Party resumes - settle in for the rest of the film. The floor/mic will be open for sharing afterwards (with respect to venue closing times)

Parking : The venue unfortunately has no reliable free parking. There are two paid parking complexes next to the venue. They are accessible via Allen Street & Water Street respectively.

Sliding Scale : Complimentary, $5 +bf or $10+bf

Please secure your ticket in advance (even comp.) as there is limited capacity.

Any profits after costs will be donated to Transcend Australia, who work to provide crucial social services, support, & safe spaces for trans & gender diverse young people & their families.

Accessibility:

The Venue is multi-level & unfortunately challenging for accessibility.

Entry to the venue is at street level - Stanley St entry has a small rise, Jacob Lane entry has 4 - 6 stairs. Bathrooms are located down those small stairs. The Basement is 12 - 16 stairs down from the bar/kitchen level.

The Land:

this event takes place in Meanjin/Magandjin, in a venue co-created on the lands of the Yagera and Turrbal people.
