Coming In versus Coming Out: Alternative dialogues from the CALD LGBTQIA+ community

Join us in celebrating the diversity and lived experiences of the CALD LGBTQIA+ community.
This family-friendly afternoon will feature a Traditional Chinese Drag Queen performance, panel discussion and networking session.
Speakers include Bernard Saliba (he/him) academic and co-creator of the Inviting In resource, Cedric Yin-Cheng (he/they/他/Ta) CEO of ANTRA, and Kunal Mirchandani (he/him) Community Outreach Director of Trikone.
"Quiet" and "Youth-Safe" spaces will be provided be headspace.
When: Saturday 21 June 2025
Time: 3.00pm – 6.00pm.
Where: Civic Theatre, Hurstville.
Cost: Free (catering provided).
Panel Speakers:
Bernard Saliba (he/him)
is a public health academic, PhD candidate, community advocate, and co-creator of the Inviting In mental health resource. His work focuses on sexual health equity, cultural safety, and intersectional wellbeing among LGBTQ+ communities from culturally and racially minoritised backgrounds. Bernard brings both lived experience and research insight to his work, with a deep commitment to affirming, community-led approaches.
Kunal Mirchandani (he/him) is a passionate advocate for LGBTQIA+ South Asians in Australia and currently serves with Trikone Australia – a community organisation dedicated to creating inclusive, culturally resonant spaces for queer individuals of South Asian heritage. With a background in community engagement and a lived experience navigating queerness within diaspora communities, he brings a nuanced perspective to conversations around identity, belonging, and representation. Kunal Mirchandani has contributed to initiatives such as inclusive mental health panels, artistic storytelling projects, and Trikone's groundbreaking podcast Under the Brown Rainbow.
Cedric Yin-Cheng (he/they/他/Ta) CEO of ANTRA (Australia and New Zealand Tongzhi Rainbow Alliance Inc.) a non-profit empowering the Mandarin & Cantonese-speaking LGBTQIA+ communities in Australia.
