Community Conservation Planting Day - (Scarborough Beach 2)
Event description
The City of Stirling in collaboration with its partners invite you to join us for a Community Conservation day.
This event is a collaborative initiative of the City of Stirling in partnership with Stirling Natural Environment Coastcare and Perth Region NRM. This event is supported by funding from the Western Australian Government’s State NRM Program.
This event is an opportunity to:
- Meet your neighbours and build a sense of community
- Improve biodiversity and conservation value of our natural areas
- Help stabilise and increase resilience of our dune systems from erosion
- Learn more about conservation and how you can get involved
This event will involve planting our coastal dune systems with a variety of important plant species. The planting is done by community members with the guide of expert help from our staff and conservation volunteers.
The City requests you bring your own gardening gloves, water bottle, closed-in shoes, protective eye wear and weather appropriate clothing (long pants, either a broad brim hat/sunscreen or raincoat/pants). On arrival to the event, volunteers and residents will be asked to register and an induction will be carried out prior to planting activities. This is a family friendly event, however, please ensure children are supervised at all times as we will be working near the ocean.
