    Event description

The City of Stirling invites you to join us for a Community Planting event at Shearwater Spoonbill Reserve to help restore the wetland riparian zone.

This event is an opportunity to:

    • Meet your neighbours and build a sense of community
    • Improve biodiversity and conservation value of our natural areas
    • Learn more about conservation and how you can get involved

This event will involve planting around the wetland with a variety of important plant species. The planting is done by community members with the guide of expert help from our staff and conservation volunteers.

The City requests you bring your own gardening gloves, water bottle, closed-in shoes, protective eye wear and weather appropriate clothing (long pants, either a broad brim hat/sunscreen or raincoat/pants). On arrival to the event, volunteers and residents will be asked to register and an induction will be carried out prior to planting activities. This is a family friendly event, however, please ensure children are supervised at all times as we will be working close to water.

Sausage sizzle lunch will be provided after the event by the Stirling Lions Club, along with 'thank you' tokens in appreciation of your efforts.

    Timing:

    8.45am Registration

9-9.30am Induction, welcome and planting demo

    9.30-11.30am Planting

11.30pm - 12pm Lunch Break and meeting your fellow community

Please note the event is subject to being cancelled or rescheduled where weather conditions are bad or where COVID-19 restrictions are in place. Please ensure you check for email updates closer to the event date including parking.
