About the class:

Join us for a casual crafternoon of creativity! Bringing together makers of all different experience levels and mediums, our goal is to create community, foster imagination, pass along skills, or just chill out for a bit. Follow the prompt / project of the day, or bring your own work in progress & supplies. Meetup is FREE with registration! Come take a deep breath, be inspired, and leave feeling a bit more connected.

  • Please help us keep classes like this one free. Supplies are purchased based on the number of people registered and space is limited. In consideration of this, please let us know if you cannot attend as soon as possible so we can open the space to someone who can.

November 2025 Project

Cyanotypes

A cyanotype uses an antique method to create photograms - prints from physical objects. As this was much more cost effective than photography, it was used across many disciplines in the late 19th century to document and decorate. The gorgeous blue produced is universally appealing, and can stand on its own or become a part of your mixed media creation.

Shaerie will talk a bit about the history of cyanotypes and how they can be manipulated, and you will have the opportunity to make your own on fabric or paper. She'll have shadow casting items on hand but also feel free to bring your own - botanical samples and fiber-based crafts make fantastic images! We won't be able to make negative images in class but for sure will talk about them for anyone who wants to forge ahead.

AS ALWAYS you are welcome to bring your own portable craft to work on. If you plan to participate in the monthly project, we ask for a small donation to cover materials costs!
