ABOUT
Spend the day with David, learning the basic skills of white coopering, where you will use a number of traditional tools to craft your own small bucket. After the workshop you will not only take home your bucket, but also the knowledge of how to make your own wooden vessels.
Cost: $275 per person INCLUDES MALENY WOOD EXPO 3 DAY PASS

8.30 am to 4 pm
All tools and materials provided.
Some hand tool experience is beneficial but not compulsory.
Book quickly, these intimate workshops are limited to 6 spots per workshop.
What to wear and things to bring:
- Please wear closed in shoes, no loose clothing or jewellery – skirts and dresses are not suitable for this activity.
- Please bring eye protection, ear plugs and a dust mask.

ABOUT DAVID HARRIMAN
Artisan, David Harriman, has been self-employed in his own business, Colonial Woodcrafts, for 30 years. In this business he uses many traditional skills on a daily basis.
David has had an interest in designing and creating unique pieces using the mediums of wood and steel since childhood. His working life began with an apprenticeship in joinery.
Having mastered the skills of joinery, he began to develop his own unique style. blending modern technology with some old-world skills including carving, wheelwrighting and coopering.
These same traditional skills were a large part of the beginnings and success of his business. He has made literally hundreds of wooden tubs, buckets and vessels over the 30 years.
A large range of timbers are used in his creations including bush timbers, recycled timber and plantation timbers. He has been teaching the basic skills of coopering at various events and places since 2017.
He has also won a number of awards at various shows, exhibitions and expos for his creative woodwork, with some featuring Australian flora and fauna.
David has been a regular exhibitor at the Maleny Wood Expo.
