Dyeing and Printing with Rust and Tannin Workshop - 8th June 2024

Discover the alluring interplay of earthy colours and textures of rust and the luscious dark tones of tannins. 

These two elements have played a central role in my practice as a textile and visual artist. I'm excited to show you how versatile rust and tannin applications can be. In this workshop you will learn:

  • How to prepare your fabrics prior to printing and dyeing
  • What is rust and tannin and how do they interact with each other
  • Printing with rust 
  • Dyeing with rust
  • Ecoprinting with iron mordanted cloth
  • Tannin application in dyeing and ecoprinting 

The ingredients used in this workshop are naturally derived and non-toxic.

All materials will be provided. Please bring with you:

  • enclosed nonslip footwear 
  • 2 old towels
  • gloves 
  • mask
  • your own water and refreshment

Homestyle meals and beverages are available from Hinata Cafe within the same building. 

This workshop is suitable for beginners from age 15+. Please note that as we will be working in my studio, the space is not suitable for young children to attend. 

I am unable to provide a refund in case of cancellation but you are welcome to transfer your place to someone else. Please let me know prior to the workshop if you need to make this arrangement.
