Event description

MAKE A GORGEOUS WALL HANGING IN ONE WEEKEND!

Ever wanted to try weaving with natural fibres? In this workshop you’ll learn how to transform humble bullrushes and other garden plants into a stunning wall hanging using the beautiful art of two-strand twining.

You'll join a small group of like-minded people for a fun weekend of creative self-expression, getting confident with the basics of basket-weaving and leaving with a gorgeous wall hanging that you’ve crafted from scratch, ready to showcase in your home.

What you'll learn:

  • How to identify suitable plant fibres for weaving
  • How to prepare and work with natural fibres
  • How to start your wall hanging using a basic basketry technique
  • Two-strand twining stitch
  • Patterning and shaping your wall hanging
  • Finishing off your stunning piece

Worried about your skill level? Don’t be! This workshop is suitable for both beginners and intermediate weavers looking to have a fun and creative experience. We focus on play rather than perfection, so you can relax and enjoy the process.

All materials for the day are provided, including natural fibres that have been harvested, foraged and prepared for you. Being a small class there’ll be time for personal tuition.

Join us to slow down and connect with nature while you give weaving a go - or extend on what you already know!

BOOKINGS ESSENTIAL as there are limited spaces available.

About me: I am a non-Indigenous weaver born and grown on Ngunnawal, Ngambri, Dharug and Guringai country. The weaving I share has been handed down from many traditions and is passed on with permission.
