COB PIZZA OVEN & CORDWOOD/BOTTLE-BRICK WALL & ROCKET STOVE BBQ Natural Building Workshop No.2

Welcome to our Cordwood & Bottle-brick wall and Cob Pizza Oven weekend workshop

This will be the second of 2 weekend workshops aiming to build a new Workshop Area and general hangout space at our new home in Beremboke VIC.

WE WILL BE FINISHING A WALL TO AN UNDERCOVER AREA, PLASTERING OUR COB PIZZA OVEN, BEGAN ON THE FIRST WEEKEND, AND BE BUILDING A ROCKET STOVE POWERED BBQ AND WOK BURNER! 

We will be stomping a lot of Cob (a natural building tech made from clay, sand, and straw) to construct the Cordwood & Bottle-brick Wall.

Cordwood is an old building technique which uses sections of round timber cut into pieces all the same length, and then they are cobbed together to form a wall, with only the end circular profiles exposed. It gives a very charming appearance, and is incredibly simple to achieve.

We will also be adding ‘Bottle-bricks’ pioneered and made popular by the Earthship movement. The end result is a stunning array of exposed bottle ends, creating a stained-glass window aesthetic.

We will be giving a complete lesson on Rocket Stove theory, why and how they work, and how to best build your own. We will then be installing 2 of them into a bench section next to the cob pizza oven, to create a BBQ and a Wok Burner! We are so excited!

WE WILL ALSO BE FINISHING OUR COB PIZZA OVEN, BY PLASTERING IT AND FIRING IT, AND HAVING A BIG PIZZA PARTY!

• How to identify any wild soil sample
• How to create usable Clay Slip
• How to mix and apply Cob
• How to construct a Cordwood wall
• How to cut and construct a Bottle-bricks
• How to mix and apply Lime based renders
• Rocket Stove theory
• How to design and build a rocket stove powered BBQ with wok burner

This workshop is set on a stunning 20acre bush block, with lots of space to camp and walk.

All meals will be fully catered, and BYO camp gear to enjoy the natural surrounds
