Description

Council House Comedy

Join us for a late night of sharp observations, dark humour and distinctly Jewish comedy at Council House.

Hosted by Rayni Bonne, a stand-up comedian, storyteller and arts entrepreneur who has performed on stages across multiple countries, including Yohay Sponder’s Funny Mondays. Through Tribe of Chutzpah Productions, Rayni has produced and MC’d sold-out showcases for the Sydney Comedy Festival, Bnei Brith and the Comedy Store.

Headlining the night is David Smiedt, described by comedian Adam Hills as “a living breathing joke machine”. David began his stand-up career in Melbourne in 2006 and has since performed at venues including Sydney’s Comedy Store, the Harold Park Hotel, the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and the Comic Strip in New York City. A favourite from past Jewish Comedy Showcases, David returns to headline this special Council House event.

Also appearing:

Netta Yashchin is an Australian-Israeli theatre director, actor, writer, composer and singer-songwriter. A graduate of Tel Aviv University and NIDA, she has worked extensively across theatre, opera and film in Australia and Israel. Her solo work Sabra has been presented internationally in Tel Aviv, New York, Türkiye and the Czech Republic.

Yosef Bender is a Sydney-based comedian with Ukrainian-Jewish heritage, known for his dark humour and deadpan delivery. He blends absurd stories with sharp wit, making audiences laugh while questioning their own morals.

Yoav Tourel is a Sydney-based Israeli comedian who accidentally fell into comedy through a charity event seven years ago while working in advertising and has not looked back. A believer in comedy as both a shield and a sword, Yoav explores culture, parenting and life as a non-native English speaker.

Presented by NCJWA NSW and Tribe of Chutzpah Productions.
