    Event description

Did you know that there is an election going on at the moment? No, not the ACT or Queensland one. Much more important. Its the BCT Election.

Kids never get to vote and we don't think that is fair. Voting is so much fun. Why should the adults only have the fun!!??

So to change it a bit we are holding our very own elections - for the BCT (the Book Cow Territory).

Only kids can vote at this election. And just like a real election we have preferential voting (alas no Robson Rotation this time...) and two ballot papers.

    • The blue ballot paper is to elect the favourite Canberra kids book written or illustrated by a Canberran. This list has been informed by nomination from ABC Radio Canberra and some local politicians.
    • The red ballot paper is to elect the favourite book character who will also be named the Chief Minister of the BCT.

Voting is open from Saturday 12 October until 3pm Saturday 19 October. There is only one place to vote - the Book Cow in Kingston. And we have a real ballot box!!

When we stop voting local election aficionado and author Krys Saclier will come and show us how to count the vote so we can work out who will be elected. Our very own tally room in the Book Cow and we will need counters and scrutineers!!
