Sexuality in Neurological Rehabilitation

Join us for a series of three free webinars celebrating three years since we established our practice. These sessions will explore key topics in rehabilitation and psychosexual therapy, including neurological injury and sexuality, traumatic brain injury, and effective goal setting for psychosocial issues in clinical work.

About

This session provides an overview of how a range of neurological conditions can affect sexuality, such as multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, and stroke. The focus will be on broad patterns, clinical considerations, and supporting clients across different stages of care.

By the end of the webinar, participants will:

• Recognise common sexuality-related concerns linked to neurological illness and injury

• Understand the interplay between medical, psychological, and social factors

• Consider how scope of practice, referral pathways, and collaboration shape intervention

• Have the opportunity to ask questions during a Q&A session

Presenters

Bridie Allan (she/her), Clinical Psychosexual Therapist (Provisional)

Bridie brings diverse expertise to sexuality counselling and education. Since 2014, she has worked across correctional, community, and hospital settings, supporting both adults and children with sexual wellbeing concerns that impact their physical and mental health. Bridie has experience working with adults adjusting to newly acquired catastrophic injuries, as well as those living with long-term mental health and psychosocial challenges. She is passionate about helping clients explore their sexuality and sexual needs, with a focus on enhancing pleasure, wellbeing, and overall quality of life.

Candice Care-Unger (she/her), Specialist Social Worker & Clinical Psychosexual Therapist

Candice is an award-winning clinician-researcher, specialist social worker and clinical psychosexual therapist, having worked in hospital and community rehabilitation settings since 2006 across Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States. She currently serves as the NSW Branch President of the Society of Australian Sexologists (SAS).
