THIS EVENT HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED - NEW DATE TBA

Ever wondered why crime fiction remains one of the most popular genres on the market that keeps readers coming back for more? Join crime author Dinuka McKenzie as she breaks down the key elements underpinning compelling crime fiction. In this four-hour interactive workshop, Dinuka will take participants through what makes a good crime novel and focus on two key components of the crime writer’s toolkit: writing believable antagonists and creating propulsive forward momentum in your narrative. With plenty of time to write and to ask questions, this workshop is suitable for writers working on a crime fiction manuscript (mystery, thriller or suspense).

    Catered lunch included.

Dinuka McKenzie is an Australian writer and the author of the Detective Kate Miles crime series published in Australia and the UK. She is the winner of the 2020 HarperCollins Australia Banjo Prize. Her writing has been shortlisted for the Sisters in Crime Davitt Awards, the Bad Sydney Crime Danger Awards, longlisted for the Richell Prize, and highly commended in the Australian Crime Writers Association, Louie Award. Her short fiction has appeared in the 2022 Dark Deeds Down Under crime and thriller anthology. Dinuka lives in Southern Sydney on Dharawal country with her husband, two kids, and their pet chicken.
