Crafty Bees Workshop #2 (Beeswax Wrap)

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

Make your own beeswax wrap with Olga Hemmingsen from the library and find out everything you ever wanted to know about native pollinators (bees, butterflies, moths and flies) from Otago University researchers.

Native pollinators are at risk and declining - both in NZ and worldwide. A lot of research is finding that native bees and flies might be more effective pollinators than honey bees.

Dr Jenny Jandt from the University of Otago Dept of Zoology has a simple message - plant more flowers, plant flowering plants that bloom at different times of the year to ensure nectar feeding insects and birds have food to eat.

Crafty Bees Workshop is taking place in the Dunningham Suite, 4th Floor of the City Library.

Cost: Free - for school-aged children 8+.

Book for your child - adults don't need to register but are required to accompany children to this event.
