Pride Play Readings | Live at the Bandstand
Event description
Short+Sweet Sydney, The largest short play festival in the world is partnering up with Qtopia Sydney Sydney to run LGBTQIA+ focused play readings.
These play readings will be a vetting process to find 10 plays for the “Short+Sweet Sydney Pride Program” in February 2024.
This is your chance to have your short play read in front of fellow playwrights; you’ll receive valuable feedback, make new connections and develop your craft all whilst telling your story.
We want this to be a very accessible way for your writing to be noticed, the readings will be about the writing itself and not the performances, so you can bring anyone to the table to read your work.
The only stipulations are:
- It must be a 10 minute play
- The writer identifies as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community and/or an Ally

We encourage audience members with a keen interest in new writing and development to attend.
“The Short + Sweet Sydney Pride Program” promises to be an extraordinary celebration of queer voices, embracing the power of theatre to inspire, entertain, and promote social change. The festival looks forward to welcoming audiences and artists alike to experience this exceptional showcase of LGBTQIA+ talent.” – Liviu Monsted, Festival Director Short + Sweet Sydney
