Croissant demonstration at Canal Tavern of Zoar (Zoar - Tuscarawas County OH)
Event description
Please join us for a three hour demonstration to witness how to make authentic French croissants from scratch at the Canal Tavern of Zoar in the heart of the historic village of Zoar Ohio.
Alain Marec, your instructor, is a French born food scientist and home baker who will show you how to create a wonderful batch of French croissants or pain au chocolat.
During the event, Alain will demonstrate the entire process of making croissants and pains au chocolat including: making the détrempe (dough), beurre de tourrage (butter layer), laminating simple and double folds finally shaping croissants/pains au chocolat.
During the three hour demonstration, each guest will receive:
- A demonstration by Alain of all the steps of croissant making.
- A general to technical explanation of French pastry (based on guests interest) including - selection of ingredients, basic understanding of making pastry: mixing, lamination process, shaping, importance of time and temperature, principles of fermentation, food safety etc...
- A presentation hand out of the process shown during the event (to make your own croissants at home)
- A gift box with 4 medium sized croissants and pains au chocolat (2 of each) baked just before (or during) the event.
- Questions & Answers throughout the class.
- An adult beverage from a list curated by Canal Tavern is included in the cost of the event (additional beverages can be purchased from the bar of the venue).
