Event description

Dr Kim Le presents her new book, Culture of Crisis and Extinction: Idealism and Ideology Expressed in Arts and Architectural Forms, while describing her various journeys throughout the world, the architecture and artefacts she examined, the galleries and museums she visited, and the ideas she developed in relation to extinct civilisations. We travel with Kim to places such as Toledo City in Spain, Paris in France, Khajuraho in India, and the Chakleng village of Champa. Includes an illustrated talk with opportunities for questions. There will also be refreshments, book sales and signings.

Culture of Crisis and Extinction explores the mythology of cultures in crisis, tracing the symptoms that lead to their destruction and eventual extinction. Kim’s book investigates cultural phenomena across various environments. It uncovers significant historical meanings that are often hidden or absent from mainstream publications.

As a Research Fellow at The University of Western Australia, Dr Kim Le combines design, innovation, and academic rigour to convey social and political impact. She has extensive experience in conducting and leading research projects, publications and workshops on topics like human-centred design, social innovation, creative leadership, and digital transformation since 2017. As a scholar, she finds diverse ideological viewpoints in Western and Eastern architecture, art disciplines and culture intriguing, as they enhance our understanding of social and cultural populations in Australia and in the global world. The Australian Government Research Council acknowledged her research in their Excellent Research for Australia (ERA) submission in 2018.
