A Festival With a Difference
What sets this festival apart is the journey.
Across the weekend we move through the five elements together, creating a shared experience of balance and connection.
You can choose the classes and workshops that suit you, yet still feel part of a bigger guided flow.
Three dedicated spaces support your weekend:
• BODY SPACE — movement, strength, yoga, dance, everything for your beautiful body.
• MIND SPACE — talks, philosophy, practical tools for everyday life, the mental body and bringing balance to your mental health.
• SOUL SPACE — meditation, breath work, mantra and quiet reflection to soothe and harmonise your Soul.
Our offerings are simple, welcoming and designed for all levels. Whether you are new to yoga or a long-time practitioner, there is something for everyone.
What to Expect:
Step into a weekend of learning, moving and restoring your energy. We journey from the grounding of earth to the spaciousness of ether guided by experienced teachers in yoga, dance, meditation, breath work and mind medicine.
Each session invites you into deeper clarity and connection, supported by incredible music, inspiring workshops and nourishing food made with love.
It’s a chance to feel lighter, calmer and more at home in yourself.
Why the Five Elements?
We are made of the same elements that shape the natural world around us. When these forces are in balance, we feel steady, energised and well.
Working with the elements helps bring harmony to your body and mind, supporting better focus, emotional balance and a deeper sense of ease. It’s a simple framework that anyone can benefit from.
Six Doorways to Connection

Lineup

SOREYA JAMES
I am the visionary behind the Coromandel Yoga Festival and am thrilled to be bringing the first inaugural festival of this type to our local region. Having presented at over 30 festivals in NZ and worldwide, I love creating dynamic and beautiful spaces that guide you through immersive experiences. I am a facilitator, guide and space holder devoted to bringing people fully alive. My work is rooted in awakening our natural life force through the gateway of the body, the breath and the rhythm of life. Music is at the heart of everything I offer. I curate journeys that move the nervous system and the soul, weaving DJing, dance, breath work, meditation and deep inner work that are felt rather than taught. I am here to create spaces where people feel safe to soften, brave enough to open and free enough to remember who they are beneath the noise.

JODY BROWN
Jody has spent years in embodiment and inquiry practices and has been teaching yoga since 2012, has trained in Somatic Therapy, Zenthai Shiastu, Somatic Dance and is learning from her great teachers, LIFE and her own heart as she goes and grows. I am here for guardianship of Mother Gaia, for inclusivity and diversity, and for the tender wildness of your precious heart. It is my honor to walk beside you as a willing ally, guiding you back to your inner wisdom and truth so you can live more fully from that place. I’ve always intuitively believed that life is magic, creative and wildly unlimited—and that human beings are the same. We are life co-creating life. That knowing comes from a deep, quiet whisper that feels real and true, beyond logic, beyond reason, simply felt in the bones.

NIC LUANA MITCHELL
My work is shaped by lived experience and over twenty years in the wellness space. Yoga is a steady presence in my life, a place I return to daily for strength and grounding through the seasons of being a woman and mama. I’ve dedicated over a decade to training in Kahuna Arts and Bodywork, practices rooted in the wisdom of Hawaiian ancestors. This has taught me to listen deeply - to the body, to the breath, to what lives beneath the surface and this naturally weaves into my way of teaching. I love to witness transformation and I believe in building a strong foundation of belonging - to ourselves, to community and to nature.

MURIEL CHRISTONAI
I create original music and plant-based vibrational essences, working with voice, sound, and carefully crafted sensory elements to create immersive spaces for deep rest, reflection, and inner connection. My work is slow, intentional, and deeply experiential, inviting participants out of “doing” and into a felt sense of presence and coherence. Shaped by long-term personal practice including nature-based meditation, and years of listening to subtle states of awareness, my approach bridges music, ritual, and embodied stillness. I have a natural ability to sense how people can reconnect with the grounding, supportive presence of the Earth and gently hold space for this reconnection to unfold. My music is created specifically to support meditation, rest, and spiritual practice (and is available on Spotify). Each offering is an invitation to soften, slow down, and experience the sacredness of being human - no performance required.

DEBBIE KARL
I teach in a way to reach all people, with language that is simple yet deep and moving. I always long to take care of that this is sacred that has been handed down from awakened beings. Like a gardener I like to honour the seeds they have scattered and water them gently. 5 element acupuncture and oriental medicine inform so much of my work and then my love is sound and the heart outpouring of old old Sanskrit songs passed down to me from many teachers in India. In my teachings I will always call you home to make the self enquiry 'Who am i'. This feels to me like the most important of life projects. When we know this we break apart so much that holds us and binds us to a life of ups and downs. This is when we can begin to find true peace. I grew up in a farming family and the elements have been clear and ever present in my life, alive and offered a foundation of simplicity.

VANESSA DARSHWANA EDELSTEN
As both an ecologist and a yoga teacher, my work is deeply shaped by the natural world, its rhythms and our connection to it. My classes offer practices designed to cultivate presence, self-awareness, and a sense of flow, supporting both joy and gentle recalibration . I guide students toward noticing the subtle layers of their inner landscape, much like observing the ecosystems around us. I have taught yoga for the past 11 years, and offer Women's Retreats through Wild Stillness Retreats and have a deep passion for celebrating the feminine in this very masculine world! Currently I am studying Ayurveda via The Shakti School.

EMMA SCOTT
I found a passion for yoga 30yrs ago and have experienced the profound transformation yoga can make. I first studied alignment based yoga and explored many styles. I now teach Yin and Slow flows. As a massage and Cranial Sacral therapist. I understand and respect the differences of individual bodies and fully respect that in my teaching. I'm also passionate to teach to people who feel the don't have a "yoga body" and believe every body can find a place in my yoga classes. I incorporate functional breath practice in my classes and love to add a theme to class to invite inspirational ideas.

TRISH KNIGHT
I love to encourage people to get curious about their bodies innate wisdom, and their accumulated life experiences, and from this wealth of resources, to share with each other, as a larger group, or in pairs. We will use art, some embodiment practice (loving breathe and self touch) to connect to ourselves deeply, and integrate a deeper level of understanding ourselves, in relation to others. I foster community building, and radical self responsibility, providing a valuable opportunity for intimacy and connection. I look forward to being of service to you

RACHEL PHELPS
I love working with the energetic field, energetic body. I spend my working hours as a Biodynamic Craniosacral Specialist, weaving in qualifications of Clinical Hypnotherapy. The despair and total disconnection from my own humanness, body emotions and heart, the exhausting drive to just survive, led me to, "there must be another way". One of my favorite quotes "Once you are on the path, the way appears". Over 25years on that path, discovering the many layers, softening into the moment, being the exquisiteness of life. One of my passions is to hold space that blesses, heals and inspires others to embody their deepest truth.

ANGELA MASTRONARDI
I hold a bachelor degree as Neurophysiological Technician (2010); I am a Certified Yoga teacher (2014), and I am the founder of Manawa Ora Neuro Breath Consultancy (2022). I am passionate about yoga, nervous system, and holistic ways to approach health. My intention is to support people into a better life physically, emotionally and psychologically through scientific knowledge & deep understanding of the link between breath and nervous system activity, offering tools with breath exercises. I have been offering in my community classes of yoga for adults, children & elderly people. I also offer private breathing sessions to support my clients to reacquire functional breathing.

SARAJANE CROOKES
Through breath, movement, and conscious inquiry, I awaken the sacred life force and invite the body to remember its innate wisdom. My work weaves Kundalini Yoga with deep inner alchemy, where old patterns soften, nervous systems settle, and truth begins to rise. As an Architect of Self-Love, I guide people to rebuild their inner foundations, reshaping the relationship they have with themselves, their desires, and their lived experience. This work ripples outward, transforming how they love, relate, lead, and choose from a place of presence rather than survival. This work is grounded in lived experience, where love, loss, and real-life initiation have informed both the depth and tenderness of my guidance. At its heart, this is a remembering, love not as something to seek, but as something you have always held within you.

LEIGH ANN MCINTYRE-LOMAS
Naam is my path up the mountain. It feels like home for me, nourishing my soul, uplifting my spirit and filling my heart with love. I experienced a class almost 20 years ago & have followed the teachings, instilling a daily personal practice, enjoying the wonderful Rootlight music, clarifying my life purpose. In 2017, I completed a Teacher Training in Israel & now share the health and wellbeing gifts of Naam in Thames, New Zealand, where I am based and at Antara Retreat (north of Auckland), run by Antara Association, a charitable trust I have been involved with for many years .

BETH PEARSELL
My kaupapa is to create brave spaces where all beings can be fully self expressed. It is very important to me that in my sessions there is choice, agency and time for integration. The human relationship with the living planet is central to my work and I believe restoring that relationship is vital for the liberation of all beings. I'm inspired by my many teachers and I am currently studying integrative somatic facilitation. I live rurally in an off-grid home surrounded by bush and near the ocean. I love to grow veggies, make pottery and surf. Since 2021 I have been co-facilitating retreats as Wild Stillness Retreats.

RENEE WALLIS
Renee is a mover and a groover. She is a Qualified Terra Soma™ Yoga Teacher, teaching weekly in studio, as well as offering private individual and group sessions. She's also assisted on YTT's and taught at various festivals in Aotearoa. Coming from a strong dance background, movement and embodied expression have always been part of her being. Her preferred teaching style is a slow somatic flow - combining somatic tools, yogic teachings, and ecological psychology to facilitate a deepening into our physical being ness and our connection with the more than human world. She also is a Herbal Medicine practitioner, and works in community focused spaces to facilitate wellbeing at the intersection of individual, community and environment.

JILL WINTER
In my adult life, I've been committed to helping people let go of tension, whether as a massage therapist or a yoga instructor. I work with a broad range of people from children to people in their nineties. It is my true passion to see people be able to flow through life with ease at any stage. As a certified sports massage therapist with 28 years of clinical experience, I've practiced in the US, UK and Tairua, Coromandel. I'm also an Ashram Yoga (NZ) trained yoga teacher, offering weekly Hatha Yoga classes in Tairua for the last 10 years. My favourite yoga class I currently offer is my senior yoga class which gives me great insight into how yoga helps us maintain a vital body and mind as we age.

BONNIE BURBERY
I teach yoga as a complete, held journey, one that asks for presence and offers safety in return. My classes are carefully paced from beginning to end, with clear intention, spacious timing, and an invitation to fully arrive in the body. I ask people to be here, really here, and I create an environment where that feels supported, grounded, and accessible. The practice is less about performance and more about listening, sensing, and allowing the experience to unfold. I am a Zentai shiatsu therapist, and this therapeutic foundation deeply informs how I teach. My yoga is shaped by touch, stillness, and an attunement to nervous system safety, weaving mindful movement and breath into a cohesive whole.

THE SAUNA PROJECT with Ra-Tane Edelsten
We’re delighted to welcome The Sauna Project to the Coromandel Yoga Festival, offering a deeply nourishing space for rest, release and renewal. Sauna bathing has been used for centuries as a way to cleanse the body, calm the nervous system and reconnect with presence. Through the gentle heat, muscles soften, circulation improves and the body is invited into a natural state of detoxification and repair. It’s a simple yet powerful practice that supports both physical wellbeing and mental clarity. When paired with mindfulness, the sauna becomes more than just heat — it becomes a ritual. Conscious breathing, quiet reflection and tuning into sensation allow the mind to slow down and the body to fully let go. This combination supports stress relief, emotional release and a deeper sense of grounding, helping to regulate the nervous system and restore balance. Whether you’re stepping into the sauna to warm up between sessions or to intentionally pause and reset, The Sauna Project offers a beautiful complement to the festival journey — a place to integrate, unwind and come back into your body. A moment to sweat, breathe, be still… and simply feel good again.

THE ROOKIE VILLAGER (CATERERS)
Rookie Villager was born from the journey of a city-slicker couple (Rohit & Parul), who traded concrete skylines for rolling countryside. Seeking a life with more meaning, connection, and balance, embracing the art of farm steading, we started growing our own food, living simply, and reconnecting with nature. Guided by the principles of Yoga & Ayurveda, and inspired by the belief that food feeds the soul, we discovered a deeper passion: crafting wholesome, soulful food that nourishes the body and calms the mind. What began as a personal journey soon became Rookie Villager, a registered food business rooted in authenticity, freshness, and mindful living. Today, Rookie Villager offers food that is healthy, fresh, farm-inspired, and soul-feeding made with intention and served with heart.

BODY Bonnie — The Other Side The Other Side is an invitation to arrive fully, softly into your body. Beneath the noise, the striving, the roles you play, there’s a quieter place that’s already whole. This class is a space to meet that part of yourself. Through slow movement, breath and awareness, you’ll explore what’s here rather than chase what’s missing. No pressure, no performance just a gentle returning. You don’t need to change, fix, or prove anything. Just come as you are, and notice what unfolds when you do. The other side isn’t somewhere far away it’s something you remember, feel and allow. MIND SPACE Ra Tane — The Sauna Project: Moving the Waters of the Body At The Sauna Project Coromandel Coast, what we’re really creating is a space to reconnect. When we step into the heat, the body softens, the breath deepens and with guidance the mind can begin to settle. When we bring mindfulness into that space, the sauna becomes more than just heat; it becomes a place to reconnect with ourselves, with each other and with the natural world around us. So, join me in a discovery discussion about sauna's many benefits and experience some mindfulness techniques that you might incorporate into your current or future sauna practice. 🔥 FIRE ELEMENT
BODY SPACE Vanessa — Yoga Nidra - Deep Rest to Transform Lean into powerful, deep rest with this guided slow-flow yoga and yoga nidra experience. Here is your opportunity to rest and digest, to transform, and to transcend samskara’s, blockages, and uncover shifts in energy. Delving into the different layers of consciousness, we allow for an unwinding, a releasing and an invitation to be whole. Yoga Nidra is a deeply restful state and is a science that has been practiced for thousands of years. Our practice together will start with some very gentle movement and pranayama, and in introduction to the concept of yoga nidra and sangkalpa. From here, you will be invited to lie down and make yourself fully comfortable and relaxed. The Yoga Nidra portion of this practice will be approximately 40 mins. This will involve simply finding a state of conscious relaxation and listening as I guide you through relaxing and releasing through the kosha’s/layers of the self. Leave the practice feeling deeply rested, rejuvenated and powerfully connected. Please BYO blankets, cushions, bolsters and eye pillows to really settle into rest. MIND SPACE Debbie — Elemental Medicine Having the great privilege of learning and treating in the field of Oriental Medicine for 25 years I came to understand the 5 elements so intimately. They formed the backdrop of my thinking and the lens I looked through to establish what needed treating in my clients to return them to their original nature. It is an exciting and interesting area of learning and we can come to know more about ourselves through some very simple teachings. Nothing about it is complex and it is the kind of wisdom that when told only once you will never forget it as it feels so simple and natural. This is the kind of wisdom passed from generation to generation that keeps us connected to nature and ourselves. SOUL SPACE Sarajane — Light of the SOULar Plexus I will be teaching Kundalini Yoga, working with the fire element. We will be focusing on the solar plexus, the place where inner stability and your truth are anchored. Through breath, intention and movement, you will be guided to stay present within sensation, learning to hold what arises within you without resisting it. As you build inner stability in the body and the mind, you begin to digest life more fully, creating clarity and free flowing energy that supports conscious, aligned decisions from a place of inner knowing.
