DANCE DEMOCRACY: CYPHER CAMP

Part Workshop, part dance battle

Led by legendary Melbourne street dance group Cypher Culture, Dance Democracy: Cypher Camp will be a night of fun and freestyle dance. In this foundational workshop, you’ll learn from renowned hip-hop, krump, and contemporary dance artist David Prakash, as he teaches you the basics of street dance, cypher circles, and freestyling, before ending the night with a dance battle.

Featuring a live DJ, let by the experts this is a unique dance experience.This event is open to everyone, no matter your dance experience - whether you know and love street dance, or have never done it before, Cypher Camp is for you!

GUEST ARTIST:

David Prakash is an Indian/Samoan artist who began his journey into the realm of street dance in 2012. During this time, he has explored multiple genres such as Popping, Hip Hop freestyle, House, and Krump. David has judged at various street dance battles in Naarm and competed nationally/internationally.

In 2016, David co-founded ‘Jam On Toast’, with close friend and collaborator, a weekly dance jam for the Melbourne dance community to dance, hang out and connect with new people.

Currently representing Orphanz, The Unguided, Trip Fam & Mute crew

About Dance Democracy 

Dance Democracy is a two-week program of dance and movement events, presented by Union House Theatre in association with UMSU. Choreograph new works, perform for an audience, or join a workshop and dance battle. Whether you’re a pro dancer or have two left feet, you’ll enjoy our two-week program of offerings in the Guild Theatre 31 March – 12 April.
