Community planting – Darebin Creek Woodland Bird Byway
Event description
Join Darebin Creek Management Committee and Urban Guerrillas for a community planting day that makes a real impact—for people and for nature!
Together, we’ll be planting 1,000 native seedlings, including more than 45 different species of trees, shrubs, and grasses. This work contributes to the restoration of important habitats for native birds and wildlife, supporting our broader ‘Woodland Bird Byway’ project along the Darebin Creek.
This is a fantastic opportunity to spend time outdoors, meet others in the community, and contribute to something meaningful. Getting involved in nature-based activities like this has been shown to support wellbeing and connection to place, making it good for both you and the environment!
Everyone is welcome—whether you're a seasoned green thumb or just curious to learn. Come along, lend a hand, and help grow a healthier future for our community and local ecosystems. All ages welcome.
Please wear: sturdy, closed-toe shoes and dress for the weather (warm jacket, raincoat, sun hat etc.)
Please bring: plenty of drinking water and gloves if you have them (or use ours)
Meet on the Darebin Creek Trail, north of Greenhills Rd, Bundoora
