About the Event:
The Te Kaha project represents one of the most significant civic infrastructure undertakings in Christchurch’s recent history—a 30,000-seat multi-use arena designed to transform the city’s event and sporting landscape. In this session, Kent Summerfield, Project Director and Principal’s Representative, will offer an inside look at leading the Te Kaha project through its planning, procurement, and delivery phases.
From balancing stakeholder expectations and managing risk, to navigating political, environmental, and commercial pressures, Kent will share insights into the leadership and governance strategies shaping this once-in-a-generation project. Attendees will gain perspective on how robust project management, collaborative partnerships, and community engagement underpin the delivery of major public works—while maintaining focus on time, cost, and long-term value.
