Event description

Presenter: Alana Knoppow, MSW

Course Description:

This training introduces the principles of Person-Centered, Trauma-Informed (PCTI) care for individuals living with dementia. Participants will learn how to assess and improve care environments to reduce the risk of re-traumatization, identify potential triggers even without a known trauma history, and apply practical strategies to support autonomy, dignity, and emotional safety in dementia care.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Critically evaluate areas to improve your organization’s care environments and minimize re-traumatization

  2. Analyze an individual’s triggers regardless of knowing their history of trauma.

  3. Compare and contrast the PCTI strategies to provide care to support autonomy and agency for people we care with other types of interventions.
