Clothes Mending Repair Café with Liveable Parramatta

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

Note: This is a mending workshop + repair consultations for denim and non-stretch fabrics.

This free 2 hour event is brought to you by Liveable Parramatta. The Bower’s textile repair duo, Kate and Rachel, will introduce you to various ways to patch and reinforce damaged jeans, shirts and other non-stretchy clothes. Learn to make your repairs durable, which tools and supplies are required, and how to use simple hand-stitching to create beautiful visible mends as well as subtle, crotch tear repairs.

Get started on one garment which needs some TLC, or build your skills by practicing on the materials provided. Feel free to bring along any items in need of repair for consultation.

Beginners welcome! This is a workshop program, not a drop-in activity. Please arrive a few minutes early, so that you’re ready to start on time. Needles, pins, thread and fabric for patching are supplied, but you're most welcome to bring your own sewing kits.

Keep in touch and share your mends on Instagram with the hashtag, #thebowertextilerepair and tag @thebower

Please note that in order to care for the health of vulnerable members of our community, all attendees at this event will be required to wear respirator (P2) masks. These will be provided for anyone who needs one.

LOCATION
The Bower’s Parramatta HQ is 750m from Parramatta train station. The Route 900 / free shuttle bus stops nearby, at the corner of Macquarie & O’Connell Streets.

There is paid parking directly above The Bower in the Hunter Street (Justice Precinct) car park. Be aware that for a 3 – 4hr stay is $12 and 5hrs plus is $18.
