DESASTRES Marco Fusinato
Event description
Ready yourself for a sonic and visual purge of seismic intensity.
DESASTRES is a visceral noise-guitar work that synchronises images to sound in a live, durational solo performance. Making its Australian debut after premiering at the 2022 Venice Biennale, artist Marco Fusinato performs this momentous piece at cinema studio NantStudios Docklands, home to the largest LED volume screen in the world.
Fusinato performs live using an electric guitar to improvise slabs of noise, saturated feedback and discordant intensities that trigger a deluge of images onto floor to ceiling LED screens of 6,000 panels towering 12 metres high and stretching across 88 metres.
Sourced through an open search across multiple online platforms, the mass indexing is a mess - a morass of disparate, disconnected, randomly generated images. This immersive encounter is open for the audience to make sense of. Find reality within hallucination, elation in disorientation and exhaustion from confusion.
Tickets are timed entry but do not limit the amount of time you can spend at DESASTRES and are valid for the entire day. Late arrivals will be admitted, if at capacity there may be a short wait.
